Two MOOCs developed under ERDERA’s predecessor, the European Joint Programme on Rare Diseases (EJP RD), are currently offering facilitation windows, providing participants with the opportunity to engage with course educators and experts.
Although these courses were developed during the EJP RD period, they remain relevant for the rare disease research community and for stakeholders involved in ERDERA activities.
The first course, Health Data Ethics & Regulatory Frameworks in Rare Disease Research, has a facilitation window running from 7 April to 15 May.
Co-developed by EURORDIS – Rare Diseases Europe, ERN EpiCARE, the Fondazione Gianni Benzi and the Foundation for Rare Diseases (FFRD), the course explores how health data can be used responsibly in rare disease research. It covers different types of research data and sources, the roles and responsibilities of actors involved in data processing, the benefits and challenges of data sharing, and the ethical, regulatory and data protection frameworks governing health data use.
A second MOOC,From Lab to Clinic: Translational Research for Rare Diseases, will have a facilitation window from 27 April to 12 June.
This course was also developed under EJP RD, byEATRIS, EURORDIS,ERN EuroNMD, Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) and FFRD. It focuses on how discoveries move from the laboratory into clinical practice, addressing key aspects of rare disease drug development such as clinical trials, regulatory approval, drug repurposing and patient involvement across the research lifecycle.
Both courses are hosted on the FutureLearn platform and offer free access to course content for a limited period after enrolment. While no longer actively maintained as part of ERDERA’s work programme, these EJPRD-developed MOOCs continue to provide valuable learning resources for researchers, healthcare professionals, patient advocates and other stakeholders active in the rare disease field.
