Open Academy x ERDERA School on Scientific Innovation & Translational Research

The Open Academy School on Scientific Innovation & Translational Research is part of the Open Academy Schools x ERDERA and consists of a 4-day in-person training in Barcelona. This training was launched with the aim of deepening patient representatives’ understanding of how pre-clinical research translates into real benefits for rare disease patients.

The school equips 40 participants each year with knowledge and skills so they are empowered to effectively participate in discussions with researchers, policy makers and companies responsible for research or research infrastructures. Expert speakers and researchers from across Europe deliver the training each year. The topics covered include the diagnostics, new technologies in gene therapy, animal research, pre-clinical research and ethics. Applications for this school open in September.
